Carmelo Anthony headed to the Big Apple

Hello World!

Carmelo Anthony‘s headed to the Big Apple and it’s about time.

Speculation regarding Melo’s future whereabouts have been rampant since the NBA season kicked off back in late October with countless outlets having had the seven-year pro everywhere from New Jersey to Los Angeles.  But at the end of the day Melo chose the bright lights of New York and his presence in Madison Square Garden this Wednesday is sure to bring even more electricity to the World’s greatest city.

The Knicks, with Amare Stoudemire, have already thoroughly exceeded expectations this year, but with Melo now dawning the historic blue Knick uni’s the excitement is sure to send New York’s rabid fanbase into the stratosphere.

If you didn’t catch the big news, Anthony was shipped late Monday night to New York along with Chauncey “Mr. Big Shot” Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman for Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov along with a 2014 first-round pick and two second-round selections.

It remains to be seen just how fluently Carmelo and Stoudemire co-exist out on the court, however it’s not everyday a franchise gets the opportunity to land two All-Star starters; so surely the Knicks will be fine with suffering through the obligatory growing pains for awhile.

Denver, on the other hand, knew Melo had no intention of returning when he chose not to sign the 3-year, $65-million dollar extension that the Nuggets put on the table last year.

There’s probably no clearer way of saying I’m not interested than turning down $65 million dollars, so the Nuggets brass needed to ensure they got back sufficient young talent, draft picks, and cap space to help ease the pain of losing a top-5 player in the league and by all accounts they did that admirably in this deal.

Rumors abound, however, regarding the potential for even more movement on the Nuggets’ front.  Numerous outlets suggest that Raymond Felton is likely to be moved again before the February 24th deadline.

But don’t worry we’ll try and keep you posted.  The NBA deadline is Thursday 3pm ET.

For all you Knick fans here’s a little taste of what the Melo man has in store for the next few years.  If this little mix doesn’t give you those feel-good goosebumps New York I don’t know what to tell you.
