Kobe Bryant scores 43, knocks down game-winner in Drew League surprise appearance

Hello World!

Kobe must of heard the whispers.

While ESPN.com has everyone with a voice debating incessantly on just who exactly is the top in the NBA today with their impressively argumentative league rankings list, Mr. Kobe Bryant decided Tuesday night would be a perfect opportunity to steer the conversation towards numero uno status his way.

We already know how crazy competitive that guy is, but as you will see below when it comes to silencing any and all critics by closing out the competition at the buzzer no one is better.

Apparently Tuesday night in the famed South Los Angeles’ Drew League Kobe surprised the local crowd with a cameo for the ages.

Scoring 43 points he led his squad to a 139-137 victory by hitting the game-winning shot in the face of NBA counterpart and Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden, who is a Southern California native himself.

We’ve seen some great summer league moments this year and Kobe’s performance, as he is accustomed to doing, may ultimately top them all.

Obviously that sentiment is very much up for debate with the headline-snatching exploits of one Kevin Durant this summer, but yet and still Kobe seems to have a way of stealing the limelight from everyone else when it’s all said and done.

If you didn’t catch it, here it is one more time.  Kobe knocks down his textbook fade-away jumper over the outstretched arms of James Harden proving that no matter who happens to be from L.A., born or raised, in the end it’s Kobe’s town.

Kobe torches Harden and DeRozan on a sunny Tuesday afternoon in L.A.

It remains to be seen if Kobe will suit up in the Drew League against Goodman League showdown in Washington D.C. this weekend.  We’ll keep our fingers crossed for a Durant/Kobe summer battle for the ages.
