TNT announces BBVA Rising Stars Challenge participants

Hello World!

TNT had a little fun Thursday evening when they hosted a televised Draft with Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal for the 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge set to take place next Friday from the Amway Center in downtown Orlando, Florida.

Team Chuck and Team Shaq announced the participants of the Rookie Sophomore Challenge, now known as the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, in a draft scenario that saw Team Shaq swoop up the momentous Jeremy Lin and Blake Griffin as his key acquisitions.

Not to be outdone Team Chuck, led by none other than Weight Watchers’ front man Charles Barkley, snatched up the 1st pick in the 2011 NBA Draft Kyrie Irving to go along with last season’s Rookie of the Year John Wall.

2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge Rosters

Team Shaq
Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers PF (Sophomore)
Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks PG (Sophomore)
Landry Fields, New York Knicks SG (Sophomore)
Greg Monroe, Detroit Pistons PF/C (Sophomore)
Ricky Rubio, Minnesota Timberwolves PG(Rookie)
Markieff Morris, Phoenix Suns PF (Rookie)
Kemba Walker, Charlotte Bobcats PG (Rookie)
Brandon Knight, Detroit Pistons PG/SG (Rookie)
Norris Cole, Miami Heat PG (Rookie)
Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers PF (Rookie)

Team Chuck
John Wall, Washington Wizards PG (Sophomore)
Gordon Hayward, Utah Jazz SG/SF (Sophomore)
Paul George, Indiana Pacers SG (Sophomore)
Evan Turner, Philadelphia 76ers SG (Sophomore)
DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings PF/C (Sophomore)
Tiago Splitter, San Antonio Spurs PF/C (Sophomore)
Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers PG (Rookie)
Derrick Williams, Minnesota Timberwolves SF (Rookie)
Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs SG/SF (Rookie)
MarShon Brooks, New Jersey Nets SG (Rookie)

Just taking a quick glance at the rosters I am going to have to give the edge to Team Chuck here.  Six out of his ten draftees are Sophomores and it appears he has much more depth at the wing.

Team Shaq’s roster is big on names, however it lacks size and shooting out on the perimeter.

What do you think?
