Anthony Bennett posts career-high 15 points in loss to Pelicans

Maybe it was the sight of 2012 #1 overall pick Anthony Davis that motivated Anthony Bennett Tuesday night.   Or maybe it was all the bad press Bennett, the 2013 #1 overall pick, had received up to this point in his first season. RELATED: Gary Payton to Anthony Bennett: ‘You look fat’ Then again, maybe it was simply the fact that the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers, without their most consistently productive big in Anderson Varejao due to a bruised knee last night, needed somebody else upfront to pick up the slack. Whatever the reason, Bennett chose wisely to take advantage of the increased opportunity posting a career-high 15 points in 31 minutes of surprisingly productive action. Although the host Cavaliers would ultimately go down 89-100 to Anthony Davis (30 points, 7 rebounds, 8 blocks) and … Read entire article »

Trey Burke picked 9th by Wolves; Traded to Jazz

The Minnesota Timberwolves picked the National Player of the Year Trey Burke with the No. 9 overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft Thursday evening and quickly shipped the young point guard to the Utah Jazz for the 14th pick, UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad, and the 21st overall pick, Louisville’s Gorgui Deng. 2013 NBA Draft | Picks per Team The move make sense with the Wolves already set at the point guard position with Spanish phenom Ricky Rubio as their starter. Conversely in Utah Burke has an opportunity to step right in and not only contribute but lead a Jazz team that has been in need of a solid point guard since the franchise parted ways with All-Star Deron Williams. Here is a look at Burke’s NBA Scouting Profile via Draftexpress.com’s Mike Schmitz. … Read entire article »

Thomas Robinson 2012 Summer League in Review

Thomas Robinson 2012 Summer League in Review

Thomas Robinson put in five games of up-and-down ball during the 2012 Las Vegas Summer League.  But that was to be expected coming from a rookie who really starred as the focal point in college for just one of his three seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks. While many looked at Robinson as a so-called “tweener” coming into the Draft; the reality is, the 6-foot-9 inch, 240-pound physical specimen may have an opportunity to carve out a very specific niche … Read entire article »

Orlando Summer League: Sullinger, Jones III shine in NBA debuts

Jared Sullinger dropped a game-high 20 points for the victorious Boston Celtics while Thunder forward Perry Jones III demonstrated his versatile skill set scoring 16 to go along with 8 rebounds as the Celtics beat the Thunder 73-65 in Game 2 of Monday’s Summer League action from Orlando, Florida. 2012 NBA Draft Both collegiate stars curiously dropped in the 2012 NBA draft albeit their well-documented successes with Sullinger falling to the mighty Boston Celtics at No. 21 and Jones sticking with the Thunder at No. 28. However, as showcased in their NBA debuts Monday afternoon, these two forgotten forwards may rival for the biggest steals of the draft by season’s end. Sullinger, who came off the bench Monday, knocked in 6-of-12 shots from the field netting all seven of his free throw attempts while … Read entire article »
