USA Basketball: Blake Griffin out of Olympics with torn meniscus in left knee

Blake Griffin has been ruled out of the 2012 London Olympics due to a torn meniscus in his left knee. Griffin appears to have aggravated the injury during a scrimmage with the U.S. Olympic team while training in Las Vegas this week. According to the L.A. Times the 23-year old power forward who signed a 5-yr, $95 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this week will not suit up for the Olympic team in London. However, by all reports Griffin should be ready to play by the start of the 2012-13 season with an 8-week recovery timetable necessary to heal the injury. No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft Anthony Davis will replace Griffin in the upcoming London Olympic competition. Source: L.A.
