LeBron James not playing his game in these Finals

LeBron James not playing his game in these Finals

Let’s be honest.  After eight successful NBA seasons, this is not the LeBron James we have become accustomed to seeing. James is a 6-foot 8-inch, 250-pound rim-attacking phenom. He impacts the game by getting to the free throw line and burying his defenders under the basket figuratively and literally. However, James is not playing his game.  We have not seen that same aggressive attacking player since the Heat 92-84 Game 1 victory from American Airlines Arena in Miami, … Read entire article »

Bulls’ power forward Taj Gibson posterizes Wade and the Heat twice

With the Chicago Bulls convincingly taking out the visiting Miami Heat 103-82 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals late Sunday evening, backup power forward Taj Gibson chose his limited, yet productive time on the court to showcase his impressive dunking talents to the NBA viewing community on TNT. His first smash coming early in the second quarter of play over a guy known for doing a little dunking of his own in Dwyane Wade. Must … Read entire article »

The Bulls are not favored to beat the Heat, but they should be

The Chicago Bulls are not heavily favored to beat LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat in this epic 2011 NBA Eastern Conference Finals’ showdown, but based on their consistent, team-oriented style of play on both ends throughout the season, maybe they should be. That didn’t stop Vegas from, ultimately, favoring the Heat 2-to-1 over the Bulls in the East Finals and 13 out of 16 esteemed and, for the most part, well-respected ESPN experts … Read entire article »

Bulls defense stifle Celtics backcourt in Eastern Conference playoff preview

Believe it or not there’s much more to the Chicago Bulls story this season than Derrick Rose’s MVP chances. Thursday night in a prime-time matchup with the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics, the Bulls showed the TNT viewing audience that as a unit they can play defense with the best of them; putting  in an impressive defensively-charged 97-81 victory in front of 23,067 Chicago faithful. Challenging entry passes and shadowing the Celtics perimeter players relentlessly those surprising Bulls sent a clear message to the rest of the league that defense predicates everything they do. That aforementioned Bulls’ defense stifled the Celtics All-Star backcourt of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo into a horribly cold 12-of-34 shooting night, ultimately holding the Celtics as a team to just 38.4% shooting from the field. Allen, … Read entire article »

Stoudemire’s late block keys Knicks comeback victory over Heat

These guys weren’t supposed to be able to play defense, right?  Amare Stoudemire and New York Knicks’ newly-acquired All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony may not be known around the league for their prowess on the defensive side of the ball, but all it took was one key play in the closing moments of New York’s impressive 91-86 come-from-behind victory over the confident Heat Sunday night to dispel what we thought we knew about the other Eastern Conference new 3-man super group. The Heat looked confident and in control early boosting their lead to as many as 15 points in the first half of play only to let Carmelo Anthony will his new squad back to a one-point lead at halftime after assisting Knicks’ reserve forward Bill Walker on a miraculous buzzer-beating 3-point … Read entire article »

Will LeBron James take home his third straight MVP award?

Will LeBron James take home his third straight MVP award?

What exactly is the definition of an MVP in the National Basketball Association these days?  LeBron James has done it twice.  Steve Nash a couple times.  Kobe only once amazingly. Based on the many definitions of what most valuable actually means to a team, at times it can be difficult to tell exactly what ultimately was taken into account to make or break a candidate. However, if one thing is for sure perennially there is a steady … Read entire article »
