Ibaka’s presence defensively a must for Thunder championship hopes

Ibaka’s presence defensively a must for Thunder championship hopes

Serge Ibaka has reportedly agreed to a 4-year, $48 million extension with the Thunder, however the 22-year old defensive gems’ now secured position in Oklahoma City’s future plans seemed somewhat of a no-brainer decision after all was said and done. At a mere 22 years old, the 6-foot-10 inch, 235-pound power forward has already surpassed some of the more notable shot blockers in recent history in just 3 seasons in the NBA. In fact Ibaka’s numbers are … Read entire article »

Orlando Summer League: Sullinger, Jones III shine in NBA debuts

Jared Sullinger dropped a game-high 20 points for the victorious Boston Celtics while Thunder forward Perry Jones III demonstrated his versatile skill set scoring 16 to go along with 8 rebounds as the Celtics beat the Thunder 73-65 in Game 2 of Monday’s Summer League action from Orlando, Florida. 2012 NBA Draft Both collegiate stars curiously dropped in the 2012 NBA draft albeit their well-documented successes with Sullinger falling to the mighty Boston Celtics at No. 21 and Jones sticking with the Thunder at No. 28. However, as showcased in their NBA debuts Monday afternoon, these two forgotten forwards may rival for the biggest steals of the draft by season’s end. Sullinger, who came off the bench Monday, knocked in 6-of-12 shots from the field netting all seven of his free throw attempts while … Read entire article »

Kevin Durant doesn’t need the NBA, he’s got Streetball

Kevin Durant doesn’t need the NBA, he’s got Streetball

Kevin Durant has been all over the uninteresting NBA news scene this summer for reasons much different than the majority of its usual headline makers.  While the NBA is boring us to death with labor disputes and stalemated rhetoric, Durant has been doing an under-appreciated service to the very large community of Basketball fans here stateside. Durant’s simply been playing some ball and very impressive basketball at that while frequenting many of the nation’s premiere summer … Read entire article »

Kevin Durant not so politely asks Brendan Haywood to be in his poster

Kevin Durant not so politely asks Brendan Haywood to be in his poster

Kevin Durant‘s known as a polite, well-mannered young man around the league.  Arguably a little too nice at times, Durant rebelliously channeled his inner Taj Thursday night by not so politely asking Mavs 7-foot big man Brendan Haywood to be in his poster in the first quarter of the Thunder 106-100 win over the Mavs in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. A not-so-nice poster with Durant’s head equal to the rim and Haywood’s feet … Read entire article »

Thunder dominate Nuggets on the glass, take 2-0 series lead

While our collective attention appears fixed on the Lakers usual slow start along with the Celtics interesting battle with the Knicks this early postseason, another team in the NBA Playoffs is steamrolling its way right through their, previously considered, tough opening round matchup. The OKC Thunder took a 1-0 series lead into Wednesday night’s battle against the 5th seeded Denver Nuggets and showed just how dominate upfront they stand to be when this thing is all said and done. Getting solid efforts from former Celtic Kendrick Perkins (7 pts, 11 reb) and athletic 4-man Serge Ibaka (12 pts, 12 reb, 2 blk), the young, and now, much bigger Thunder out-rebounded Nene and the smaller Nuggets to the tune of 54-31 in Game 2; pulling down 17 boards on the offensive glass alone. Dwight Howard powers his way to 40 points and 15 rebounds, Magic dominate Thunder

Dwight Howard powers his way to 40 points and 15 rebounds, Magic dominate Thunder

Dwight Howard didn’t mince words when speaking about his team’s lackluster effort after a 111-105 home loss to the lowly Sacramento Kings this past Wednesday night; and after Friday’s monster effort against the Thunder, he did more than his fair share of backing those harsh words up with his play. Howard overpowered the smaller Thunder – playing without newly acquired center Kendrick Perkins – to the tune of 40 points, 15 rebounds, 2 steals and 6 … Read entire article »
